The 3rd Annual Songwriters' Serenade. Contestants will showcase their songwriting and compete for $1,000 in prize money. Participation in the contest is growing, so register promptly. Music fans, come enjoy this event under the covered pavilion beginning Friday evening April 24 and on Saturday April 25 for the semi-finals and finals. Admission is free.

The Fiddlers' Frolics is held in Hallettsville, Texas every year during the fourth weekend in April. This year, the festival takes place the 23rd - 26th of April 2009. Visitors can expect to see the world's best fiddlers compete over $20,000 in prizes, while master cooks take part in the Texas State Championship Barbeque Cook-Off.

 

Also the "Anything Goes" fiddle contest on Friday night, April 24th. Twin fiddle, bowing tricks, or stand on your head while playing -- this competition is open to all fiddle players who want to entertain the audience with their artistry. Plus, you get to be the judge. The audience will select the winners to receive -- $300 for 1st, $200 for 2nd, and $100 for 3rd . Following the event Friday is the popular "Cajun Fun Night."

This year the Freshman fiddle contest starts at 9:00 AM Saturday April 25th, 2009.
